Work in progress: "Waiting"

This will be a last minute addition to the portrait section of my work in next week's group show. I'm still working on it, and I'm sure the matting and framing process will bring it right down to the wire!

Today, I will be picking up my giclee prints. I chose "Water Plus Sunshine", "Pizzelle On a Pedestal", "Lilac and Primaries", and "Brussels Sprouts and Delft" for the prints. Also on my list today is proofing images for note cards that will be printed this week. "Espresso and Lace" and "Winterberries" are among the chosen pieces for the cards.

I can see that this little fellow has big dreams just from looking at the portrait. It looks as if he is contemplating his next move toward reaching them. You have captured so much in this piece of art!!

This is so beautiful Liz! I love the combination of elements, as always. LOVE that Peter Rabbit mug, we used to have those as children. I also really like the interface between the rounded little fingers and his (her?) face. Feels so real and tactile.

Thank you all for your comments.

The reference photo for this portrait was actually a mistake in several ways. I was trying to get a shot of him and his brother together, with their cups and a teapot. I kept moving things around on the table, and snapping shots as they sipped. At this point, our little subject was getting tired of the whole thing, and put his head in his hands just as the camera flashed (which it wasn't supposed to do), and big brother jumped up from his seat.

Despite the unwanted flash, and losing one subject and a teapot from the composition, the completely natural expression and pose won me over!

You have a knack of creating the most endearing portraits. This one is no different, you can feel the melancholy in his face. Beautifully captured. Bonne chance with your group show!

I see I'm too late to which you a wonderful group show, Liz but with such a gorgeous body of work I'm sure it would have been a great success.
